Constantine's conversion at the Battle of Milvian Bridge (312 CE) is presented as a genuine spiritual experience. The Constantinian sources — Eusebius of Caesarea (the first church historian, Constantine's personal biographer) — document the vision of the cross and the phrase "In this sign conquer." Eusebius wrote his account to please his patron. He is not a neutral source.
